Interaction designers at Habanero play a lead role in designing and developing intuitive, engaging user experiences for intranets and websites. It’s okay if you don’t have perfect experience in all of the role description or technology listed below; if you can learn quickly and work well with others to solve challenges just in time, we’d like to hear from you!


Habanero is looking to add this exciting full-time senior role to our already awesome team anywhere across Canada! This means you can work remotely anywhere in Canada or from one of our downtown offices in Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto, we're flexible!   • Part of an inclusive and diverse team of Habs, passionate about helping people and organizations thrive
  • Designing and leading efforts on intuitive and engaging experiences, mostly digital but also cultural and physical
  • Facilitating and creating empathetic ethnographic research
  • Conducting workshops through a design thinking lens and creating relevant artifacts
  • Working with a variety of brands to produce high-quality visuals across many platforms, from concept to execution
  • Creating and executing design presentations with clients and decision-making audiences (presenting scrapbooks, talking through mockups and prototypes, presenting design work and talking through the thought process)
  • Collaborating with our larger engineering team and client business stakeholders to ensure successful project completion
  • Actively soliciting others for their ideas and opinions, and encouraging team members to share their own ideas and concerns
  • Leading usability testing for solutions


Chances are, you’re right for this role if you have... 

  • 6+ years of experience designing websites and web applications in a client-services environment
  • A fantastic design portfolio to share with us
  • Warrior-like skills with Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Some basic knowledge of Sitecore, SharePoint and/or Office365
  • A human-centered design approach to solving problems and creating exceptional experiences
  • Experience sharing design recommendations and rationale with decision-making audiences
  • A passion for participating in internal design reviews and providing your feedback
  • A natural tenancy to solicit others for their ideas and opinions, and encourage people to share feedback
  • An interest in working in an autonomous, high-performing and non-hierarchical workplace


If you plan on working remotely or from home regularly, you have... 

  • An appropriate remote work setup, such as a quiet space and a trusted and reliable internet connection 
  • Access to internet speeds of at least 15 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (having the ability to connect via Ethernet for troubleshooting is required)


Bonus points if you have experience with…

  • Service and/or experience design work
  • Information architecture
  • Leading and facilitating design-related workshops and stakeholder interviews
